Circumventing 'Paywall' = Copyright Infringement

On October 16, 2015, Deputy Judge Lyon Gilbert of the Ottawa small claims court issued a decision in which he awarded $11,470 in damages and $2000 in punitive damages for copyright infringement to a publisher after a non-subscriber breached its web site "paywall" by illegally obtaining access to published material from a subscriber.
